Bronze weatherstripping casement windows

Mine shows on both. Hello: I am interested in installing the spring bronze product. Have you tried the Jamb weatherstrip, either standard or with the return flange? This requires cutting a kerf in the side of the sash to create a channel for the "interlock. Or is the standard spring bronze Pro-Type single leaf weatherstrip do well enough. Hi Patrick. I've actually been removing the traditional jamb weather stripping from our windows by filling the kerf in our sash.

So far the single leaf has done well, but my goal is to pair it with a nice storm window to keep air movement to a minimum. I'm still deciding between an interior flexible storm or an exterior custom wood storm. Check out the post we just put up regarding meeting rail interlocking weather stripping. Instead of weights and pulleys my windows have spring loaded pins. Should I try to drill the holes for these through the bronze material?

I wonder if the pins traveling over the bronze would tend to flatten it out? I have an older house that I am restoring the wood windows in.

The flashing between the upper and lower sashes is bronze and it is a shape that is obviously proprietary. Any idea where I might be able to source something like that? Hi Lance, I see that you havent had an answer so this is probably too late. Really try to contact the Killians hardward. Look online, and then call them. I bet they have it. Very nice work. Many of the other sites that talk about spring bronze installation pre drill the holes in the spring bronze AND in the wood.

My wood is over years old, very dry and hard, hard to get a nail to go in, so I will pre-mark the 1. Great website. Vert helpful. I used spring bronze in two windows and it worked well. Today I finished a third window but this time I used two sections as shown so I could access the weight pocket in the future.

Now the side of the window, probably the knot pocket is catching on the bronze even though there is barely a seam. Next window I'll change the ropes and use one piece of spring bronze and hope I don't need to access the pocket. Or maybe if I only put the seam at the bottom of the weight pocket opening it would avoid catching? Great info. I just purchased a home with loads of windows that need restoration. The current windows have the zinc interlocking weatherstrip. I want to replace with cushion bronze.

Do I need to fill in the kerf groove on the sash with something or can I leave it as is? Can this weatherstripping material be applied without removing the window sash? In other words, by sliding the window up and inserting the insulation strip up from the bottom, then nailing it, and then lower the window all the way and then nailing the top?

Re: Bronze Window Weather stripping Post by heartwood » Wed Oct 21, am if you have a good well fitting storm window, you may not need weather stripping I cut away just enough to avoid the pulley leaving the length intact I typically avoid nailing into the pocket cover as it tends to bounce and could lead to wood breakage Can anyone help me understand the photo of the door weatherstripping in the Kilian website?

It shows the weatherstripping attached to something - a block - and then there is a smaller block. Is one of those blocks the door? Or is the door not visible? I can't seem to relate this to my door. Might be good information. A capital improvement.
