SpinRite found no problems with the drive. That makes sense since the drive is still attached to the contoller, is powered on, and is accessible in Windows' Disk Management tool.
Due to the many problems with this drive, I intend to wipe it clean, physically remove it, discard it, replace it with another drive, and add that drive to the WHS storage pool. If all of my assumptions are correct, the subject of this message is nothing to be concerned about and the problem will soon be resolved! Sign in. United States English. Ask a question. Quick access. Have tried it with no page file and page file on hdd, but read recently its best to put a small one on the ssd which I did.
The drive is plugged into port 0 on my MB which is the amd ones, not the last 2 which are some other brand and not being used for anything, all drives are in amd, so no other achi drivers are installed. I switched to the amd drivers as the ms ones threw up an id11 I think it is, some disc error after I had cleaned the amd ones to install the new vid drivers, but will give them another shot. Thanks for the replies, 5. I have 8gb of ram but will leave page file on as it shouldnt be causing any problems.
Yesterday IE9 crashed and my error log had some 57 and 11 errors, though oddly they are not together, 11 first then 57 a min or two later. I will open it up and make sure nothing is touching the sata cable and also go back to amd drivers I think.
Sigh your probably right, but win7 is such a bitch to set up nicely. I have moved cables around and gone back to amd drivers, see if that works before I bite the bullet and erase. ARghhhhh damn you windows.. I got some event id 51 errors, closed the browser and refreshed event viewer to see if they stopped, and while refreshing something really odd came up. It was an error from amd saying it was restarting I think thats the word used the device, my c drive, then everything started to vanish from my screen and I eventualy got a bsod BUT the horrible thing is windows event viewer didnt save this error so I dont have the wording right and cant search it..
If I google amd driver errors all I get are vid ones, but this was disc, I am 99 percent sure. Of course if you restart the c drive while things are using it then you are going to get a BSOD, but the restart, why! Was it due to the errors or something else, sigh I am pissed the error didnt save, but it was there, I am not halucinating Thanks, have tried another cable but will change port, I cant see how the drive can be faulty when the fault is so intermittent and it passes every test I can run, my money is on windows or IE9 as the fault only seems to happen when I use it as far as I can tell with flash involvement.
Plus can you imagine the horror of using an old hdd as my primary while I wait for a new ssd :P. Damn it, thought changing port fixed it, lasted 4 days before error 51 and a bsod, sigh. Ok have installed chrome and if that doesnt work will erase and reinstall windows, and if that doesnt work then its rma, sob, I cant live without my ssd while I rma, lets hope it isnt needed. Then again after you fix the sectors.
Com phone on web site. Generally when I see this I replace the drive. Most modern drives have spare sectors that the firmware substitutes in when it sees a bad sector. Hard disk: C: Data might be lost during system failures.
From reading the following post my understanding is that you can ignore these error events because they simply mean that Windows understands it is on a disk with write caching enabled so Active Directory will not use write caching. Brand Representative for StarWind.
I stumbled across this as well on my 2 DC's that are guests to a hyper-v r2 host. If I remember correctly from my own searching these errors can be ignored.
