I lived and worked in Japan and I know how to use a true Japanese keyboard, so that's not an issue. What is an issue with the new-ish computer of mine Windows 7 , is that I just added a Japanese keyboard, but when I use it in Windows, I can't seem to type directly onto the document.

My imput mode is hiragana, conversion mode is general, and the IME pad is visible. I can type, delete, use punctuation, and when I press the space bar, it does some kanji conversion within this black box. However, once I press enter, I can't continue typing. The text becomes set in stone and totally un-editable. Down arrow Move the selection down. Up arrow Move the selection up. Enter Select the focused candidate.
